Compassionate, skilled nursing for medically fragile children and adults

Compassionate, skilled nursing for medically fragile children and adults

At Valentine’s Home Care, we understand the courage, love, and commitment it takes to care for a medically fragile child or adult at home.

Our Specialized Care Program (Private Duty Nursing) brings skilled, compassionate nursing right where your loved one feels safest — at home, surrounded by family.

Whether your family receives services through Missouri Medicaid or chooses private-pay, our mission is the same: to provide trustworthy, high-quality care that honors your loved one’s dignity and supports your whole family.

Who We Support

Valentine’s Specialized Care serves:

  • Healthy Children & Youth (HCY) – Missouri Medicaid pediatric Private Duty Nursing

  • Medically Fragile Adult Waiver (MFAW) – Missouri Medicaid adult Private Duty Nursing

  • Private-pay families seeking skilled in-home nursing for children or adults

Our team walks alongside families to help explain options, coordinate care, and support a smooth start.

Private Duty Nursing (PDN) — What It Is

Private Duty Nursing (PDN) is one-on-one, continuous skilled nursing care provided by an RN or LPN in the home for children and adults with complex medical needs.

PDN is designed for loved ones who require ongoing medical care and close monitoring throughout the day or night, beyond what traditional home care can provide.

How Care Is Funded (Medicaid & Private-Pay)

We support families in different funding situations:

  • Missouri Medicaid (HCY / MFAW)

    • PDN services authorized through DHSS

    • Hours and eligibility determined by state assessment

    • No out-of-pocket cost to eligible families

  • Private-Pay PDN
For families who do not qualify for Medicaid PDN or who prefer an additional option, we also offer private-pay PDN with:

    • Clear hourly rates

    • The ability to supplement Medicaid-approved hours

    • Options to use FSA/HSA funds

    • Support for families seeking insurance reimbursement

No matter how care is funded, every family receives the same level of compassion, clinical oversight, and respect.

What Makes Valentine's Home Care different?

We are a compassionate, family-focused agency with a mission to honor a legacy of care. We are committed to providing a personal, professional experience and a genuinely human touch that you won't find at a large, impersonal agency.

How do you ensure the safety of our family?

We have a rigorous screening process to ensure the safety of every family we serve. This includes comprehensive background checks, credential verification, and a thorough interview process to confirm each professional embodies our values of compassion and integrity.

Are your nurses qualified and licensed?

Yes. Every member of our care team is a licensed and highly skilled professional. We ensure that all of our nurses meet or exceed the state's requirements for training and certification.

How quickly can we start services?

We understand that getting services started for your loved one is a top priority. While the timeline is dependent on a few key steps, we work efficiently to streamline the process. We will guide you through each part, from a meet and greet where you can meet a member of our team to completing paperwork, to ensure we can begin services as quickly as possible.

How does the referral process work?

Once you submit the form, a member of our team will reach out to you within 24 hours. This is a simple, no-pressure conversation where we can answer your questions and learn more about your family's needs.

Will my loved one have the same nurse?

Yes. We are committed to providing consistent and personalized care. We hire and pair a dedicated nurse specifically for your loved one's case. In the event of an absence, we will provide a qualified substitute nurse to ensure your loved one receives uninterrupted, high-quality care.

What areas do you serve?

We proudly serve families across St. Louis City, St. Louis, St. Charles, Jefferson, Franklin, Washington, Gasconade, Montgomery, Warren, Pike, Madison, Perry, St. Francois, and Ste. Genevieve Counties.
